The Honor Code was updated by the faculty on August 2, 2023. The update streamlines the process for determination of alleged violations of the Honor Code, while also honoring the tradition of student participation in honor proceedings.
The Honor Committee plays a vital role in working with the Administration to uphold the standards set forth in the Honor Code of the George Mason University School of Law. The established standards require the commitment of students to act ethically and honorably in all situations. By pledging to conform to these standards, students are extended the trust and respect of the University. It is the stated purpose of this Honor Committee to conduct its activities with the presumption that all parties that come before and Honor Panel are honorable and ethical. Students against whom allegations of misconduct are brought, as well as students and faculty who report possible violations of the Honor Code, will be treated with respect and confidentiality. Allegations of violations of the Honor Code are serious and they will be treated with professionalism and confidentiality.
All allegations of violations of the Honor Code are to be submitted to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Programming.
