The GMU Scalia Law Student Chapter of the Animal Legal Defense Fund is hosting a free tour of the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary in Poolesville, MD—about an hour west of Washington. The event is open to law school students, faculty and staff in the DC area and their guests. The tour begins at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 30. A maximum attendance of 40 people is allowed; you must RSVP to Rob Blizard ([email protected]) in advance to reserve a spot. So often, farm animals are exempted from animal cruelty laws and are disregarded as beings not worthy of protecting from pain and suffering. But check out Poplar Spring and see how such individuals live—and thrive—in a caring, humane environment. Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is a 400-acre nonprofit refuge for farm animals and wildlife that relies entirely on public donations for support.
