SUMMARY:Liberty & Law Reading Group
DESCRIPTION:Date & Time: Meets every other Tuesday from 4:00-5:30 pm. Next meeting is Tuesday\, February 15. \nCritical Race Theory and its Critics:  A Conversation   \nCritical Race Theory has been much in the news of late. In addition to intense controversy about its merits\, there has been dispute about its actual content—what does this term mean? Long before it became a political football however\, CRT started out as a strand of legal scholarship. In this installment of the Liberty & Law Reading Group\, we will engage with several of the seminal writings by key originators of the CRT movement\, as well as writings by some of the first scholars to push back against them. As always\, our purpose is to have a friendly\, open-minded\, challenging conversation in which law students and faculty of all viewpoints are invited to participate. To join\, please sign up here.

SUMMARY:Visit a Local Animal Shelter with GMU's Animal Law Group!
DESCRIPTION:The student Animal Legal Defense Fund Chapter at GMU cordially invites you and any guest to join a specially arranged tour of the Animal Welfare League of Arlington shelter!  During the tour\, you will learn about volunteering and fostering animals in need. If you are an animal lover and always wanted a pet\, but don’t have the time to commit to adopting\, consider becoming a foster parent! Fostering helps animals who are too young\, ill\, or stressed in the shelter environment. If you loved the kittens we brought to campus in the fall\, you could foster one (or an entire litter). Underage kittens are ideal for apartments! The tour is from 11 AM – 1 PM on Friday\, February 25th. We will comply with all GMU Covid-19 event rules. Space is limited\, so reserve your spot today by emailing rblizard@gmu.edu. We hope you can make it!
