Betsy Hutson is a Trial Attorney at the Civil Rights Division\, Criminal Section\, Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit of the U.S. Department of Justice. She works with Assistant United States Attorneys and agents across the country to prosecute sex and labor trafficking cases. Betsy will cover the definition\, scope\, and legal framework of human trafficking in the U.S. and deconstruct some common myths and misconceptions about human trafficking. \nPizza will be provided. SUMMARY:Pro Bono Society Opportunities: Doorways Volunteer Information Session
DESCRIPTION:Doorways Domestic Violence Volunteers: Doorways creates pathways out of homelessness\, domestic violence\, and sexual assault leading to safe\, stable\, and empowered lives. \nPlease note that all individual volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. All volunteer positions require a minimum one-year commitment (two shifts per month). Volunteers working directly with clients must complete 40+ hours of training and a background check. If you’re interested in volunteering with Doorways\, please complete our online Volunteer Application Form. It will help us learn a little bit about you\, your interests and your background. The next step is to attend one of our monthly Volunteer Information Sessions to learn more about Doorways and the different volunteer opportunities we offer.
