Welcome 1Ls!

The library staff welcomes all new students to GMUSL. We are looking forward to meeting you during the Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis (LRWA) Program and in the Library.

During the first two weeks of classes, you will be stopping by the Reference Office (on the main floor of the library, past the Circulation Desk) to complete your self-guided library tour. When classes are in session, Reference Librarians are available to assist you in person or by phone: Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM-9:00PM, Fridays 9:00PM-5:00PM, and Sundays, 2:00PM-9:00PM. We may also be contacted by email. All the Reference Librarians are experienced legal researchers, most of us have practiced law, and we look forward to assisting you as you develop your legal research skills. We are here to help, and we enjoy answering questions — so please don’t hesitate to come and see us! Contact information for the entire library staff is found in the Library Directory.

This Blog will be a place for you to find brief, informative updates about many topics, including Library Announcements, Legal Research, Technology, Legal News, Training Opportunities, and more. Please consider subscribing by RSS Feed here, or add this URL to your preferred blog reader.

First Floor Re-opened Today

We have re-opened the first floor of the Library. Pardon our mess today as workers put on the last touches and we tidy up. Copy services is open. The Reference Office and Circulation Desk are both open in their usual places on the First Floor.

Guides on Current Legal Topics

The Law Library of Congress offers a series of guides on Current Legal Topics, both domestic and international.  These guides include commentary and recommended resources.  Most recently, the library has added a guide on the pending charges against former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, available here.
